Prof. Shaofeng Lu (卢少锋)
Professor & PhD Supervisor
Shien-Ming Wu School of Intelligent Engineering
South China University of Technology (SCUT)
Academic Background
I am currently a Professor at South China University of Technology (SCUT). My academic journey began with a rigorous international foundation, earning my BEng (1st Class Honours) and PhD from the University of Birmingham, UK.
Prior to joining SCUT in 2019, I held research and teaching positions at Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. With over a decade of international experience, I bridge the gap between advanced Western optimization theories and the practical demands of China’s massive infrastructure development.
Research Focus
My work addresses the National “Dual Carbon” strategy, focusing on:
Synergizing railway networks with smart grids.
Trajectory optimization using convex optimization & AI.
Hybrid systems (Supercapacitors/Batteries) for rail.
Lifecycle assessment and carbon tracking for transit.
Impact & Achievements
- Research Leadership: Principal Investigator for National Natural Science Foundation projects and international “Belt and Road” collaborations.
- Publications: Over 120 high-level papers with an H-index of 23. My work has been featured in Railway Gazette and top IEEE Transactions.
- Teaching Excellence: Recipient of the 2023 SCUT Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award. My course “Introduction to Dynamics and Vibration” was selected as a University Excellent Case in 2024.
